Highway Superintendent Roles and Responsibilities
The Highway Departments responsibilities include road and bridge maintenance which consists of signing, graveling, mowing, paving, drainage, snow removal, along with bridge inspections and culvert repair/ replacement. The Highway Superintendent oversees 40 employees who help to maintain over 1,642 miles of roads in Lincoln County. This consists of 276 miles of paved roads and 1,366 miles of gravel roads. It is also the responsibility of the Highway Superintendent to prepare the annual report, annual budget, one and six year road plan and report directly to the County Commissioners.
To provide and maintain, in cooperation with public and private organizations, a safe, reliable, affordable, environmentally compatible and coordinated countywide transportation system for the movement of people and goods.
Permit to Occupy County Road Right-of-Way must be turned into the Lincoln County Roads Department by 5:00 p.m. on the Wednesday preceding the Monday Commissioners Meeting.
