VILLAGE OF SUTHERLAND BOARD OF TRUSTEES ELECTION

LINCOLN COUNTY

IN THE STATE OF NEBRASKA

 

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 13, 2018

Public notice is hereby given to the qualified electors of Village of Sutherland in the State of Nebraska (the “District”) that an election will be held in said District on February 13, 2018, there shall be submitted to the qualified electors of the District the following questions:

 

“For Sutherland Village Board of Trustees”

Vote for Two

 

Filings will be taken by the Lincoln County Clerk until 5:00 PM on January 9, 2018.

 

Electors voting for candidates will blacken completely the oval opposite the two names chosen to fulfill the office of the Sutherland Village Board of Trustees.

By Mail Election

This election will be an election by mail.  All registered voters residing within the Village of Sutherland will receive their ballot by mail and therefore no polling places will be open for voting.  Ballots will be mailed by the Election Commissioner on January 22, 2018.

Voter Registration Deadlines

 The deadline to register to vote at an agency, by mail or delivered by an agent is January 26, 2018.  The deadline for in-person registration is Friday, February 2, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at the Lincoln County Clerk/Election Commissioner’s Office located at 301 North Jeffers Street, Room 101, North Platte, NE 69101.  Any voter who changes information on a current registration or registers to vote after the ballots have been mailed but before the in-person registration deadline of February 2, 2018 at 6:00 p.m., will be given a ballot at the time of registration or change.

Ballot Return Deadline

 Voted ballots may be returned by mail or delivered in person or by an agent to the Lincoln County Clerk/Election Commissioner’s Office located at 301 North Jeffers Street, Room 101, North Platte, NE 69101 and must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2018.

Any voter who changes information on a current registration (in the district) or registers into the Village of Sutherland district will either be given a ballot or allowed to vote a Provisional Ballot.

January 26, 2018
Last day to accept mail in, agent delivery, and agency registrations.

Close voter registration
(Statute reads the 2nd Friday prior to the election, in this case it is a holiday, therefore is moved to the next Monday)

February 7, 2018
Last day to mail out ballots 4:00 PM

Sample ballot will be published in the newspaper(s)

The Lincoln County Clerk’s Office is conducting a special election for the Village of Sutherland

Board of Trustees to elect two board members.  This is an election by mail; therefore no polling places will be open on Election Day.  Ballots will be mailed on January 23, 2018 to all active registered voters in the Village of Sutherland.  If my office received information that you may have a different address than that appearing on your voter registration record you will be mailed a letter to verify or update your address.  A ballot will be mailed to you after we receive your updated information.

 

If you do not receive a ballot or letter within 7 days of mailing please contact our office at 308-534-4350 Ext. 110.  If you receive your mail at a P.O. Box and you are not sure if the P.O Box mailing address was included when you registered to vote please contact our office promptly to verify.  Replacement ballots are available if a ballot is lost, destroyed, spoiled, or not received by the voter.  However, a replacement ballot cannot be issued without the voter signing an affidavit before another ballot can be issued. 

 

To see if the ballot was received by the County Clerk’s Office go to:  https://www.votercheck.necvr.ne.gov

Click on the Absentee Ballot tab.  Select Lincoln County.  Select 02/13/2018 Lincoln Sutherland Village Board.  Fill in your first name, last name and date of birth.  Hit Search.  The Ballot Detail will show what date your ballot was returned and accepted by our office.

 

Voter Registration Information:

 

January 26, 2018 – Deadline for registering to vote for this election through agencies, DMV, personal messenger/agent, and online voter registration. Post mark deadline for mail-in registrations.

 

February 2, 2018 – In person voter registration closes at 6:00 P.M.   Last day to register to vote or change information on a current registration.

 

February 13, 2018 – Special Election Day – Polls close at 5:00 P.M.

 

The counting board takes great care to ensure the safety and confidentiality of all ballots properly cast.  All ballots pertaining to this election will be counted, canvassed and retained per Nebraska State Statute.
